They locked out the staff and attacked some, blaming to them for being "unprofessional".
The 35 year old politician died at the Obom Polyclinic on Saturday the 22nd of this month. However, he was, as reported on Ghanaweb.com, brought in at 5am On the said Saturday morning but the nurses ignored him, and we're engaged with their phones, totally ignoring the dying man for several hours.
After a few hours, the dying politician gave up the ghost. This angered the locals, causing this malactions and outbursts.
The locals blamed the nurses for neglecting him. Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for the Obom Domebra Constituency, Hon. Sophia Ackuaku made another submission, that there is no ambulance to attend to emergency situations as such, that one is yet to be provided under the one-constituency-one-ambulance policy. This may be implying that if there was an ambulance, he may have arrived earlier, buying him some extra time for the right health officials to get to him.
While these reasons may be understandable and maybe even justifiable, a local entrepreneur and advocate against youth participation in distructive political actions in the Regional Capital of the Volta Region (name withheld as preferred by him for security reasons) saw different. He said the true cause of death of the politician is over politicization of critical systems in our economy. "He might as well be ignored for the party he is known to be affiliated to even if they did not intend for him to die" says the businessman. He added that even if they don't explicitly state it, ruling parties carry out vandetta's against each other to cripple the competition and it has come to be accepted as the norm. And unless we start seeing each other as human first and also Ghanaian first and above all, mistakes like this will continue to happen and good Ghanaian lives will be lost without a cause.
