"Remember on January 7, 2017 in front of the whole population at the independence square, you emotionally gave your words to Ghanaians. You promised to protect the public purse by ensuring value for money. So what has changed now". These are the exact words of the outspoken female journalist, Afia pokua popularly known as Vim Lady to president Akufo Addo.
During an introductory statement on United TV's Critical Issue, the brave female journalist lamented on the decision by the president to pay monthly salary to the first and second ladies backdated from 2017. In her submission Vim lady sadly shown pictures of school children writing and sitting on the classroom floor due to the unavailability of chairs in those schools.
She also showed pictures of villages in some part of the Volta region where the residents depends on polluted stream for domestic purpose due to lack of portable water. After showing these images she was quick enough to conclude with the video of the president promising Ghanaians to protect the public purse.
"If you are leading a country where school children sit and write on the bare floor due to lack of desk and board, villagers drink dirty water due to lack of portable water and the youth are angry due to vast unemployment and you tend to show no concern as president but prioritize paying fat salaries to your wives, God is watching you", she boldly stated.
Do you believe if our leaders make us believe the economy is in shambles so they can't provide for the needs of the people at a go, but do what is in their own interest?
