Director of Strategy and Business Operations of Dalex Finance Joe Jackson, says he is willing to give the Finance Minister the benefit of the doubt.
The targets are aggressive, but all parties are functioning with an understanding of the urgency of the issue, he stated on Eyewitness News.
An IMF team is in Ghana till October 7 to continue negotiations with the government about policies and reforms that could be financed through a financing arrangement.
“Unless somebody shows me any reason that the team is not going to work day and night to achieve that target, I will be cautiously optimistic,” Mr. Jackson said.
In preparation for a $3 billion support program, the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Ghana have started a thorough debt sustainability review with the IMF.
The discussion with the IMF comes amid fears that Ghana is set to begin talks with domestic bondholders about restructuring its local-currency debt.
