The Majority Leader in Parliament and Member of Parliament for Suame, Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu joined Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in celebrating Awukudae. The Member of Parliament officially informed Otumfuo on his appointment as the Common Wealth Parliament Vice Chairman.
There was a mixture of elations and seriousness at Manhyia Palace, the dwelling place of the Golden Stool, yesterday, Wednesday 13th day of October, 2021, when the Asantehene, His Royal Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II, laid a blessed hand on his trusted subject/son, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu (Majority Leader/Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, and the Sompahene of Suame), to go and make Asante proud again.
The Common wealth Parliamentary Union Vice Chairman's appointment for the Hon. Majority Leader in Parliament comes after an excellent spell at the helm of African Parliamentary Network Against Corruption. The wise King, in an appreciative mood, provided his subject with the usual wisdom-filled advice and later laid hands on him to go and make us proud as always.
Dr. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu (Hon. MP) later informed the great King how prepared he is to leave a legacy that will pave way for many Ghanaian members of parliament to ascend the throne. He was full of appreciations to Otumfour, the President and his able Vice, Members of Ghanaian Parliament, and those of the African region and the Suame Constituency for their immeasurable support thus far.
He was elected as the Acting Vice Chairperson of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) in August 6 2021.The Suame MP won against Gerry Brownlee from the CPA New Zealand Branch. He has been now appointed to occupy the position of Vice Chairperson of the CPA. A Vice Chairman of CPA works to support good governance, democracy and human rights.
