English Language is Better Than Our Local Dialects - Hon. Boniface Abubakar Saddique Explained

The member of parliament for the Medina Constituency Hon. Boniface Abubakar Saddique who is also a minister of state at the presidency has made a critical comment concerning national unity and development.

Today 11th November 2020 on angel tv/ 102.9 fm with Kwamena Sam Biney, the Hon. Member has emphatically stated that Ghana will be well developed if we have common accepted language for which we can use to communicate regardless of where one coming from. He said this while he was accounting for what he has achieved within his short term of office as a member of parliament for Medina Constituency from 2016 to 2020.

He said “the NPP government led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo is trying hard to get most Ghanaians educated and that in a time to come the use of the English language will be a common language for all Ghanaians” he explained that due to language burier and diversity, the increase of discrimination and tribalism has come into place. He again sited Nigeria as an example that because they ha common language which is the broken English, tribes and religion has no place in discrimination because whether you are from Yiloba, Ibo or Hausa you are freely to communicate with the common language broken English to everyone’s understanding.

Nevertheless, people have showed a strong opposition of this statement as to the reason that our local dialect should supersede that of the English language and to the extent that the Whiteman’s language is not our culture.
