Eventhough, the reason for his absence is not yet known, some have described it as unfortunate considering the fact that, the former President himself is a Gonja and should not have fail to attend such an important occasion at his own backyard.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was present at the occasion and this has raised a lot of questions on why John Mahama was, who is the son of the soil was missing.
The event is an annual event organized by the Gonjaland Youth Association and this year was the 45th Annual Congress of the Association.
This Year's event was held at Bole where many well meaning indigens of the Gonjaland were present including the Vice President.
Addressing the gathering, Vice President Bawumia appealed to the people of the area to protect their environment and desist from illegal mining and logging.
He also assured them of the Government plans to give special attention to the Region as it is blessed with a lot of Natural Resources.
He further disclosed that, the road from Buipe and Daboya has been awarded to contact to open up the place for more Development.
