The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has urged Ghanaians to maintain their MPs for some time in Parliament so that they mature. According to him, it is a very good and proper practice to ensure the maturity of Members of Parliament by increasing their tenure in office. He believed that Ghanaians must not expect any proper results or achievements if they intend to keep changing their MPs like they would do when changing their outfits. He believed in the saying that, monkeys play by size.
Many Ghanaians have responded to the admonishment of the Right Honorable Speaker. And the feedback was not good as expected. Some Ghanaians cited Honorable Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu as an example to counter the statement of Speaker Bagbin; "Look as Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu. How long has he been in Parliament? He is one of the useless MPs in the eighth parliament"
One Ghanaian also literally opposed Bagbin because he believed that the freshly elected MPs were selected because of their display of maturity. Check out other reactions.
