President Akufo- Addo' s nominee according to former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini is too young for the position to fight against the corruption in the country. The MP also added that, despite Kissi Agyebeng is competent enough to run the anti graft office but he is too young to fight corruption.
" Did the President search well enough and not found a worthy replacement for Martin Amidu other than Kissi Agyebeng? Why did the President settle on Agyebeng, when Agyebeng after seven years will be around 50 years? .
" The Special Prosecutor' s position which is a risky job needs someone who is further advanced in life to resist any form of temptations due to how complicated the fight against corruption is, as a lawyer and former MP, my only concern is his age, " Mr. Inusah explained.
The Former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini made this comments following the announcement by Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame that Lawyer Kissi Agyebeng has been nominated by president Nana Akufo as the Special Prosecutor and therefore is subjected to the approval of Parliament.
However, Mr Inusah is therefore determined to know the basis at which the president used to nominate Kissi Agyebeng to succeed Martin Amidu who resigned from the office on the 15th of November 2020.
" I am just worried. Is the President meaning well? Will he try to interfere in the performance of the duty of Agyebeng? . " The Special Prosecutor should be in the same age bracket with the President or older than the President. There should be some kind of mutual respect between the President and the Special Prosecutor, " he told the host during an interview, Akua Boagyewaa.
Mr Inusah furthermore added that, the special prosecutor perform his duty without favour and fear and however, he is too young and may not fight corruption against government or other members of the public because he is just 43 years of age. The MP also expressed worried over the relationship between the nominee and the Attorney general which may raise future conflict when it comes to investigation.
However, reacting to the statement of Mr. Inusah by the Executive Director for Revenue Mobilization Africa, Godfred Ocansey allegedly disagreed with Inusah Fuseini input about the nominee' s age. Godfred Ocansey therefore admonished the nominee for the special prosecutor to prof others wrong through his work. He further appealed to government to support the special prosecutor in any way or the other to help the prosecutor do his work more effectively.
