It was with grief that the Public Relations Officer for the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Western Region Directorate, Ben Quarcoo announced to local media that the Regional Director, Ing. Delali Only has passed on. It came with a heavy blow to many that knew the late Mr. Oklu.
Sources say, Ing. Oklu was battling some illness at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in the Western Region. He gave up the ghost on Saturday 27 February 2021. No detail has been shared about the condition which he was being treated for at the hospital before he passed on.
However, families and management had expressed great appreciation of the support the hospital gave to the late one. A section of a statement issued by the PRO for ECG, indicated that situation was sensitive and perhaps dire.
"We would also like to thank the staff of Doctors In Service Clinic (DIS, Takoradi) and Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital for the caring and sensitive manner in which they have handled the situation."
Interesting enough the bereaved family is requesting that the public accords some privacy to them.
"Finally, the bereaved family has requested - while fully acknowledging that he was a public official, that the family's privacy is respected, at this time of grief and loss."
Management and staff of the company are grieving their loss and had urged all other sympathizers to share their pain.
The late Ing. Delali Oklu was born on February 18, 1966.
More details coming in.
