Lawyer and KPMG Professor in Accounting at the Fisher School of Accounting, University of Florida Stephen Kwaku Asare widely known as Kwaku Azar has asserted that the MP for Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo has vacated her post.
In a post shared on the his official Facebook page on Wednesday, 27th July 2022, he wrote;
"Adwoa Sarfo has vacated her seat. But it’s not clear if that disqualifies her from the by-election."
The comments of Prof Azar comes in wake of the revealations made by the Aide to the Adwoa Safo that the legislator is expected to be in the country this week, barring any last-minute changes.
According to him, Sarah Adwoa Safo will resume her duties in Parliament and the Gender Ministry once she arrives in Ghana.
Following her long absence from parliament, the Majority in parliament pushed for the declaration of her seat as vacant. The became necessary as Adwoa Safo failed to meet the privileges committee to explain why she has been absent from parliamentary sittings.
Prof Azar is in doubt if the laws disqualify her from re-election but asserts that she has vacated her post as a member of Parliament.
