One of the Justices of the Highest court of the land has charged the Legislative Arm Of Government to intensify the role they play in the operation of the consolidated fund. According to him, the media should criticize and hold Al duties accountable without fear and favor. Justice Yaw Apau noted some eleven recommendation as a measure to fight corruption.
“Parliament must intensify its supervisory role in the operations of the consolidated fund and ensure that the auditor general recommendations are strictly adhered to.
He further noted that government have spend more money that expected from the consolidated fund. At the end of the year 2016, financial irregularities that was recorded in the consolidated fund was 57million cedis but it has jumped to 170million cedis at the end of 2019. This he says shows that Parliament is not performing their supervisory role.
