Kennedy Agyapong's Hasn't Learned His Lesson; Murder Allegations Against NDC Must Be Investigated

The Assin Central legislator, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has been very loud with allegations against the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the past years. The latest which he made on Oman FM's Boiling Point that the NDC is plotting to assassinate one Joy FM reporter, and incriminate him for it, needs to be investigated.

The lawmaker made a mistake by going public with such allegations, even if it was to be true should have been a subject of investigations by the National Security, and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID). Today, Kennedy Agyapong had given himself to be haunted by the NDC for allegedly covering up for the premeditated murder of the journalist, as it happened to Ahmed Suale.

What lesson has he learned after threatening to assault Erastus Asare Donkor of Joy FM, after the NDC initiated disciplinary action against him through the Privileges Committee of parliament? Obviously, his thinking that the allegations were much to do with him as the subject of the crime, caused him to go public.

How could he even compromise on his personal security by sharing such dangerous intelligence [if it is not a cooked story] in public? To what end did he share this information?

Ghanaians will recall, that Kennedy Agyapong prior to the 2020 election alleged that the NDC is plotting to assassinate him, and some other outspoken people in the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) including Kwame Baffoe Abronye, the Bono Regional Chairman, and Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman for NPP.

In all these allegations, Kennedy Agyapong indicated that the plan was hatched in a secret meeting by the NDC. Strangely, he had not named a single person among the caucus who allegedly plotted these assassinations.

This trend had cost him his reputation, as far as no evidence of these plots has been provided by him. As much as he was bold enough to come public with the allegation, he should be ready to produce evidence to his claims.

As it stands now, the NDC with their counteraccusation and demands for the arrest and prosecution of Kennedy Agyapong has been deemed honorable and justified. The NDC standing up against the lawmaker, who by the same allegations caused the murder of some people in the country, has won the support of a majority of Ghanaians.

The most important thing with the call from the NDC is to have Kennedy Agyapong investigated over the allegations. Should he fail to prove them, there should be a legal restriction on him in making future allegations inpublic.
