After Kaneshie District Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Madina, Hon Francis Xavier Sosu, Ghanaians have reacted massively to the news trending across the country.
Ghanaians have divided over the order given by court to arrest the member of parliament. Some people are saying that the court has act fairly but other people are saying that it is an attempt by NPP government to reduce NDC MPs in parliament and overturned the 2022 budget rejected by parliament.
"The law must work. But when it is used as ways and means, with time it would lose it relevance. This is coincidence only to shallow minds" someone stated when political activist, kwame Asare Obeing A-Plus shared the news with Ghanaians.
Some people stated that no one says Hon Sosu cannot be arrested but Ghana police should arrest him by following due process. "We shall still come back to the same story" the person added.
"A right call. The parliamentarians must respect the laws of this country" another Ghanaian stated.
Some people thought that strategically, NDC too may decide to absent themselves from Parliament thereby having only 137 NPP MPs and questioned that If 137 MPs couldn't reject the budget as stated by NPP, how can 137 MPs approve it again?
"The next few days is going to be interesting" another Ghanaian expressed.
"Great and this is leadership by example. Thank you Dampare" another Ghanaian stated.
