I Have Been Denied The Chance To Interview Akufo-Addo For The Past 5 Years – Kwesi Pratt Admits

Getting an interview with the President is no mean feat. Indeed, many have tried and yet have failed. It is no secret that the president gets interviewed usually by presenters who are pro NPP. President Akufo-Addo has been touring parts of Ghana to thank the people of Ghana for the tremendous support they gave him and the NPP in the last election.

Already, President Akufo-Addo has toured 15 regions and is currently in the last region, Greater Accra. Interestingly, in the Greater Accra the interview at the studios of Peace FM has generated so much controversy. The President apologized for a mistake he made in Cape Coast and ending up committing himself with another comments many are calling for a retraction.

On Pan African TV’s Alhaji and Alhaji, Kwesi Pratt was saddened by the fact that he has for the past 5 years been trying to get a chance to interview President Akufo-Addo and yet has failed. He wondered why certain people only get that chance. He applauded Kwame Sefa Kayi for getting that opportunity and went on to question the rationale that influences the choice of journalist who interview President Akufo-Addo. According to him there should be a relook of things to enable others also interview the president.

Perhaps Kwesi might be right because there is a selection when it comes to those who interview the president. Kwesi Pratt who is a member of the Convention People’s People is seen by many as also leaning more to the side of the NDC. Kwesi has been a strong critic of President Akufo-Addo’s government and it looks unlikely that he will get the rare chance of interviewing Ghana’s First Gentleman of the land.
