In the heat up to the 2016 elections, the enlightening economic lecture series Dr. Bawumia delivered, profiled him as one of the best intellectual asset needed to fix the difficulties, and that with him, the NPP will be in better position to solve the mess created by the former NDC government, however it is the contrary.
On Tuesday August 16,2022, former deputy minister under the NDC government, Felix Ofosu Kwakye has sought to discredit that assertion and credentials of the vice president as the economic messiah, who is capable of fixing Ghana economic problems during Metro TV "Good Morning" show . In his view, Dr. Bawumia is a big failure and has no moral authority to make a case to present himself as a presidential for election.
The current economic climate has been blamed partly on the COVID19, the Russia /Ukraine war and the abysmal management of the country's resources by the government, however, the economic management team is been heavily criticized for the failure.
The recen downgrading of the Ghana's economy is a cause for worry for many, as foreign investors and multinationals have lost interest and desire to inject capital into the local economy, citing high risks and volatile situations for their investments.
The Vice president Dr Mahmud Bawumia is tipped as the favorite to succeed the president Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, and the one to break the "8" for the ruling government in 2024 elections.
Would the vice president succeed in his quest to lead the elephant and can he become the first northerner to lead the NPP? I don't know what what you think.
