Joseph Yamin, a leading member of the opposition National Democratic Congress and former Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports has said former President John Dramani Mahama is too soft for the type of politics practiced in Ghana. According to him, the Gentleman nature of John Dramani Mahama dovetails into becoming a president in a developed country like the United States and the United Kingdom and not Ghana.
His statement is in reaction to a pronouncement made by Chairman Wontumi, the Ashante Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party. In an interview with Wontumi Online, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly called Chairman Wontumi, attacked the 2020 flag bearer of the National Democratic over a statement made by the latter that, the Electoral Commission was forced by the military to declare the 2020 elections in favor of His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo. Wontumi in the interview used unprintable words to express his dissatisfaction with the comments made by the former President, John Dramani Mahama.
Joseph Yamin who thought John Dramani Mahama should have reacted to what Wontumi said, pointed out that, he can understand Chairman Wontumi has lost favor with his party, and he has resorted to being hard on his opponent just to make him relevant in his party.
He added that what informed why someone like him wants to be at the national level of the party is to make John Dramani Mahama sit up. He bemoaned why some of the party executives come at people who try to defend key people of the party due to intra-party conflicts. He charged the national executive members of the party to be up and doing and give people like Wontumi their pound of flesh anytime they attack key members of the party.
