The executive committee of the commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) elected Mr. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu The majority leader as the association's acting Chairperson.
The election of the head of government business in Parliament, who addressed CPA from the African district, followed a survey among him and his sole competitor, Mr Garry Brownlee from the CPA New Zealand branch.
The surveys, which was directed through email in July 2021, saw Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, surveying 19 votes to beat Mr Brownlee who collected 10 votes.
The rise prepares for Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu to join the impending Executive Committee meeting of the CPA from September 27 to 30, 2021.
Showing of love
Conveying the result of the surveys in a letter dated August 6, 2021, the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Mr Stephen Twigg, said thanks to all individuals from the affiliation who messaged and cast their votes during the political decision.
"The democratic of the CPA Acting Vice-Chairperson was embraced as per Article 21(6) of the Constitution, which considers an appointment of Acting Vice-Chairperson without a proper gathering, a political race to decide the fruitful up-and-comer with a straightforward larger part vote will happen by an email polling form of the Executive Committee Members.
"The decisions in favor of the two up-and-comers were checked and the outcomes are as per the following: Candidate A – Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu (Ghana) – 16 votes and Candidate B – Hon. Gerry Brownlee (New Zealand) – 6 votes," he said.
Expressing desire
He added "All things considered, I am charmed to affirm that Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu from the CPA Africa Region, has been casted a ballot by the Executive Committee to be the CPA Acting Vice-Chairperson.
"We anticipate inviting Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu at the impending Executive Committee Meeting, occurring 27 – 30 September 2021," Mr Brownlee said.
