According to Kennedy Agyapong, who is the member of parliament for the Assin North constituency, civil servants (Ghanaian workers) are the ones into the most corrupt activities as compared to the politicians.
Yesterday evening, he said on Net2 tv’s “The Attitude show” that, almost every Ghanaian has the mentality that, politicians are corrupt but it’s is not so, but the ordinary Ghanaian worker is rather corrupt and the reasons why the country is not developing.
He gave an instance that, before the New Patriotic Party, NPP came into power, there was one businessman who helped the party significantly and when they came into power, he spoke to one of the ministers and the man was awarded a 2.4 million dollars contract.
He went on and said that, the businessman brought machines from Dubai to the fire service department and even brought an expert from Dubai to come and train Ghanaians. But due to the corrupt character of Ghanaians, the workers stole the laptops, which had the software for operating the machines and the manual to as well. And even went to the extent of destroying some parts of the machine.
He stressed on the point that, after the workers stole these things, they requested for 15000 dollars from the expert in order to give a good report about the machines. And because he couldn’t provide, the board wrote a bad report about the machines and up till now, the president can’t commission it.
