[Video] No NPP MP Ever Attacked An NDC in Parliament Without Provocation – Afenyo Markin

The controversy about the E-levy is still ongoing. Many Ghanaians have risen to speak about the hardships that the levy is bound to bring. The Minority in Parliament have also resisted the attempt by the Majority to pass the bill. Last year saw a back and forth between the two sides as to the passage of the bill. According to the opposition NDC, the bill will impoverish Ghanaians and send the country back on the drive to digitalization.

Alexander Afenyo Markin, the Deputy Majority Leader was on GBC’s Breakfast Discussion today, Monday, January 31, 2022 and he shared insights into the process so far. He recounted a number of issues that happened last year. It can be recalled that last year both sides of the house were involved in fisticuffs over the issue. Afenyo Markin emphasized that at no point in any of the deliberations did any NPP MP attack an NDC MP. He noted that all the attacks started from the side of the NDC.

When the host tried to challeneged the assertion, Afenyo Markin opposed it and called on her to name any NPP MP who were overboard to attack an NDC MP without provocation. With no answer forthcoming, he maintained that the NPP are focused and will not start anything that will hurt Ghana’s democratic process. He added that Ghana needs the E-levy to develop and it was time for all Ghanaians to come together and decide to pay so the government builds roads and creates jobs for the youth.
