Youth In Ashanti Intends To challenge All 47 MPs For Unsatisfactory Performance

In any elections that the NPP party holds, the youth of Bantama in Kumasi have vowed to give the 47 members of the Ashanti Region's legislature a hard match. The Bantama Youth Group claims that their choice is a protest against the incumbent MPs' inability to advocate for regional development projects.

The Ashanti Region, known as the NPP's "stronghold," offers a shelter for parliamentary candidates running on the party's slate in elections.

The Boankra Inland Port and interchanges are among the projects that have been included in subsequent budgets, but the youth group claimed that the MPs had not been successful in pressuring the administration to carry them out.

"The inland port was supposed to be crossed by the railway line being built in the Ashanti Region, but it has been changed. It no longer passes through Boankra. Instead, it passes by Sokoban and other places. This should indicate to us that the Boankra Project is no longer a top priority," according to group spokesman Kwame Awuah Nimfuor.

President Akufo-Addo and the Asantehene turned the first sod for the Boankra Inland Port's construction one month before the 2020 general election.
