Today, Wednesday, April 21, 2021 saw an interesting discussion on GHOne’s Morning Show. Kofi Adu Asare, former NDC MP for Adenta and Charles Bissue joined Serwaa Amihere to discuss the current erratic power supply the country is facing. Yesterday ECG released a load shedding schedule for some parts of Accra.
On the show today, Kofi Adu Asare pointed out that the government hasn’t been honest with Ghanaians. He noted that instead of the government telling the country that they have problems they have hid it and rather using another excuse to deceive Ghanaians. Charles Bissue however disagreed and said there was a clear difference between load shedding and dumsor. He added that the government is being honest by giving a schedule for the load shedding.
Serwaa Amihere interrupted and said that earlier in the year it had been revealed that the situation was not dire so there will not be load shedding. She added that government promises cannot be trusted. She insisted that government promised hospitals and factories for districts and yet some are not there. Charles Bissue explained that government is continuous and everything cannot be done in 4 years.
“When you are seeking mandate, how many years did you ask for? When you stand on the podium you ask for 4 years and not 8 so you are accountable for only 4 years” Serwaa queried.
Charles Bissue who was apparently being hit from all sides by Adu Asare and Serwaa said, “Serwaa you are asking the wrong questions”. Adu Asare concluded that the NPP lambasted the NDC for failed promises and so they also had to be blamed for being dishonest with Ghanaians.
Is the government being honest with Ghanaians in matters relating to the power supply crises?
