An astute Ghanaian journalist and the Managing Editor of The Fourth Estate, a Ghanaian-based news portal, Manasseh Azure Awuni has teased NPP with a funny picture for going to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Friday, 1st July 2022 he wrote
"We have the men."
A popular campaign message by the NPP in opposition was that, they have the capable men to do the job if voted to power. In his famous speech after being elected, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia mentioned some astute personalities who were to help him in the economic management.
"Professor Gyan Baffour , Dr. Akoto Osei, Dr. Afriyie Akoto, Hon. Alan Kyeremanteng, Boakye Agyarko Ken Ofori- Atta and Senior Minister Yaw Osafo-Maafo. What a solid team!" Bawumia said at that time.
The question remains; what happened to the Men and solid team that Ghana is set to go to IMF for a bailout.
In 2015, ex- president John Dramani Mahama took Ghana to an IMF bailout and recieved several criticisms for mismanaging the economy. NPP is about to go to the IMF despite the E-Levy.
Some users asserted that Manasseh Azure shouldn't be happy about NPP's predicament. Others expressed their dissatisfaction on how NPP is managing the economy.
