The chairperson of the Convention People's Part, Madam Akosua Frimpongmaa, has surprised Ghanaians by stating that the e-levy has come to stay. Addressing the press, she said that most Ghanaians will not like and agree with her stance on the e-levy. She was of the view that the electronic levy is inevitable. Her main problem is the rate of taxation and she believed should rather be the bone of contention.
"What is going on in Parliament is clearly a show of promotion of partisan interest. E-levy, I believe, is not going to be taken out. Even if it is taken out, it will be done temporarily. The pricing (1.75%) is ridiculously high. The telephony companies have also been cheating us every year. The 1 percent that we pay should have been addressed years back.
"But for the government not to have addressed that and expect more is very bad. I believe that when they address that they will be able to address the e-levy.", she added.
