Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress joined Bridget Otoo on Metro TV’s One On One discussion. The duo talked about issues pertaining to Ghana’s development and internal matters of the NDC. Sammy told Bridget that it is the wish of Ghanaians that John Mahama should stand as president and noted that he will be disappointed if John Mahama does otherwise.
One of the critical points that Bridget asked was whether John Mahama is tribalistic as adduced by Dr. Bawumia. Before the 2020 elections, Vive President Bawumia had accused John Mahama of playing tribal politics. Bridget Otoo queried Sammy as to whether that accusation affected John Mahama and whether it still holds water.
Sammy Gyamfi explained that there was no way that John Mahama is tribalistic. He explained that the NDC is open for all as compared to the NPP where only few people of a selected tribe can compete for elections. According to Sammy Gyamfi, everyone in the country can confirm that John Mahama is one of the open minded and receptive politicians.
He called on Dr. Bawumia to stop peddling falsehood and focus on developing the country. He called on the NPP to do the needful by also changing flagbearer and making someone from the north lead the party to show that they are democratic and not tribalistic. The NPP flagbearer position will prove to be one that will test the party and prove if indeed the party was ready to be more open
