There has been several debates and discussions about the new nomination of a Special Prosecutor. Some have argued that Kissi Agyebeng was too young to take up such a huge position. Many also say he has affiliations with Gabby Otchere Darko and has been compromised. Others also feel he should be given the chance to show his capabilities.
On Joy FM’s ‘Newsfile’, Alhassan Suhuyini, MP for Tamale North joined Samson Anyenini to discuss if Kissi Agyebeng is a suitable candidate as a Special Prosecutor. According to him, though Kissi looks qualified, he is more of a partisan person than a political one.
“The choice could have been better. The choice reflects the character of this NPP government. Nana Addo will go down in history as the worse when it comes to dealing with corruption. Amidu was political but not partisan and so that was what made his choice acceptable. Kissi Agyebeng may not be political because we may not have seen him associate that politically but he may be partisan.
I recall one of the platforms he graced after the supreme court ruling of the election petition in 2013. The Danquah Institute platform, we recall his comments and we remember whether that is political or partisanship” Alhassan Suhuyini said
Samson Anyenini reminded Alhassan about the very statement that Kissi Agyebeng made in 2013. According to Samson, Kissi said that others had not served in criticizing the 2012 petition judgement.
According to Suhuyini, the platform where Kissi spoke was meant to criticize the 2013 ruling. He maintained that the platform was not meant for intellectual ruling but rather a partisan one. He concluded that this was clear that Kissi Agyebeng is a partisan person and will not augur well for the country.
What is your take? Is Kissi Agyebeng partisan? Can he hold his head high amidst the doubts?
