Pressure has been mounting on former First Lady, Lordina Mahama to refund monies paid to her during her tenure as First Lady and Second Lady. The pressure has been intense especially after the current First and Second Ladies refused the supposed salaries intended for them. Rebecca Akufo-Addo has even gone ahead to refund monies paid to her already.
Despite the pressure, nothing has been heard so far from the former First Lady who yesterday came out to debunk a letter purporting to come from her. In another twist to the issue, Gabby Otchere Darko, an NPP Big wig has reacted to the mounting pressure and said that Lordina Mahama cannot be compelled to pay a dime of the monies she took. He called on Ghanaians to leave her alone.
According to Gabby it is not her fault because her husband had always talked about creating a committee to decide on payment for first and second ladies and yet during his time as President did nothing, this might sound somehow weird from the NPP big wig. Perhaps it might be a satire meant to force her into paying back everything that she owes. For now, many Ghanaians are calling on Lordina Mahama to follow the already laid down example and do the needful by paying back.
