Following the referral of the three New Patriotic Party(NPP) Members of Parliament to the Privileges Committee of parliament, the minority side, thus, the National Democratic Congress(NDC) members wants the first Deupty Speaker of the house, Hon. Joe Osei Owusu to be taken off his role to serve on the Committee as a chairman.
This call came up as Joe-Wise, affectionately known by many as, had made some public utterances pointing to his inability to remain impartial on matters serious as this.
Honourable Dr. Clement Apaak from the minority side made this claim in other to have the first deputy speaker sit aside in the case referred to the privileges committee by the speaker of Parliament, Hon. Alban Sumana Bagbin.
The speaker Hon. Bagbin is known to have complied with a petition by Hon. Ras Mubarak to have the absentee MPs to appear before the privileges committee to answer questions on their absence from parliament without any notice whatsoever.
The members of Parliament facing the committee are honourable Adwoa Sarfo, Kennedy Agyapong and Henry Quartey.
The minority feels that hon. Joe-Osei Owusu cannot discharge his duties as a chair to that committee due to his affiliations with the members called before the committee.
They think there is no way Joe-wise will call for any punitive measures against his own members.
This if not critically peeked into, the outcome is likely not going to be supported by the minority side after making this claims on Joe-wise.
