Government Replies Anlo Traditional Council Over The Late J. J. Rawlings' Funeral

In November, the Government announced the funeral of the late President, Jerry John Rawlings. The Government declared a state burial for the former President on Wednesday, 23rd November at the Independence Square in Accra.

Moments after the announcement, the Anlo Traditional Council released a statement expressing their consent on the announcement. The statement disclosed that the Government scheduled the date without the concern of the Traditional Council.

They stated their reason for a necessary inclusion to be that, the Late President was a Chief in Anlo Traditional Council, therefore his funeral is to be conducted according to the customs of the traditional council.

The Government has as of today released a statement signed by the Chief of Staff to address the issue. The Government has advised the Anlo Traditional to agree on a date and convey to the office of the President for necessary action to be taken.
