Bernard Allotey Jacob made mentioned knowing the Assin North MP James Gyakye Quayson and his father very well. Aside from this, he also disqualified James Gyakye two times before his third attempt.
Concerning the jailing of the Assin North MP, Bernard Allottey Jacob has asked to blame the General Secretary and the Chairman of NDC.
"In 2012, James Quayson came to contest for MP but I refused him because he didn't bring any document proving that he is no more a citizen of Canada."
"In 2016, I disqualified him again for the same reason. James was scared to lose his Ghanaian citizenship and the election to Kennedy Agyapong whiles he's not a Canadian and MP. This brought a drawback to him."
"On his third attempt in 2020, I disqualified again only for Asiedu Nketsiah and Samuel Ofosu Ampofo to forcefully say he's the one they want as MP."
"Aseidu Nketsiah and Ofosu Ampofo were not diligent. I was the Vetting Committee Chairman at that time and I sent a report on it."
Thus, the two NDC gurus watched consciously for someone with Canadian citizenship to become an MP and hence, a court case to solve.
