Captain Smart has bemoaned the expenses of Parliamentarians in the country. according to him it was simply unnecessary for MPs to go home with huge sums of money called ex gratia. He wondered why teachers will work for so many years and receive very less after retirement while MPs work for 4 years and amass so much.
Captain Smart then turned his attention to the $170 million Judgement debt that has plagued the nation. He was of the view that the debt was needless and could have been avoided. He hit hard at Sammy Gyamfi for promising that the NDC will probe and investigate those responsible for the $170 million debt.
“Don’t mind Sammy Gyamfi. He is a politician. They all make promises and nothing happens. The Mills government made promises of prosecuting corrupt former government and this never happened. Sammy Gyamfi is just talking. Forget about what he said” Captain Smart said.
It can be recalled that yesterday the NDC organised a press conference where Sammy Gyamfi pledged a future NDC government's commitment and investigating and punishing those responsible for the judgment debt
Captain Smart explained politicians love to make promises and appeal to the emotions of ordinary citizens and later fail them. He called off the bluff of the NDC to punish those responsible for the judgement debt, it is interesting to know that both the NDC and the NPP are blaming each other for the debt. Like many other judgment debts, soon the noise will die out and Ghanaians will pay for the debts through burdensome taxes.
