Today, Ghana celebrates the 112th birthday of Osagyefo Dr.Kwame Nkrumah. As such, this day has been reserved as a holiday, "Nkrumah Memorial Day". To mark the celebration, the leadership and members of the Conventions People's Party (CPP) organized a remarkable symposium. The theme for the celebration was, "The relevance of Nkrumahism in addressing the socio economic challenge of Ghana today".
Key members of the National Democratic Congress made an appearance at the symposium as a means of honoring the good work of Dr Kwame Nkrumah. Although, John Mahama could not make it to the events, he sent a powerful delegation to represent him. They included Professor Joshua Alabi, Honorable Sherry Ayitey and Dr. Alex Segbefia.
Obviously, no member of the New Patriotic Party was found at the event for clear reasons. It is obvious that the debate as to whether Kwame Nkrumah is the sole founder of Ghana is a key reason for their absence.
