Asantehene– Nobody can intimidate any chief under my watch

Under the watchful eye of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, no chief within the Asante Kingdom's domain will be subjected to intimidation.

He claims that allegations of intimidation and violence on some chiefs who swear loyalty to the Golden Stool in places outside than the Ashanti Region will not be let to go unnoticed by Asanteman.

“In the Bono region where Nananom who owe allegiance have become subjects of attacks, we will face them squarely,” Otumfuo told members of the Asanteman Council at a meeting in Kumasi".

Drobohene's attempts to prevent Japekrom's ascent to a paramountcy appear to have enraged the Asantehene.

Two people were killed and property was destroyed in a conflict between the two communities in the Jaman South District in 2018 over a land dispute, which resulted in the torching of homes and cars.

The underlying tone of the quarrel between the two towns divided by a river, according to analysts, is chieftaincy.

The Asantehene is baffled as to why the Drobohene would reject Japekrom's ascension, claiming that chiefs are respected but not treated as enslaved people in Asanteman.

“Awuah-Domase was founded by the son of Bantamahene. Nobody can be enstooled as chief without the approval of Banatahene. None dare do this without the express approval of Bantamahene. If you like, hide behind the Bono Region and do your worst. I will nullify any enstoolment".

“In the same manner, I want to tell those in Bono East; All those who have sworn the oath of allegiance before me are my paramount chiefs".

"Being gazetted does not make one a chief; being a chief is when you swear before Asantehene. Therefore, all those in Bono East must be careful with their dealings. If you are a man enough, then be prepared to face me,” he said
