Death, they say is inevitable. Once people are born, it is part of the natural justice to die. But there are different times at which everyone will go. Whilst some persons live life to old age, others die and younger ages and these can only be explained by the creator. It is one of such news that has hit the home of one of the leading members of the New Patriotic Party.
The entire house of Mr. Francis Asenso Boakye, the Member of Parliament for the Bantama Constituency in the Ashanti Region of Ghana is in a state of mourning. Big wigs from the New Patriotic Party are currently in his residence to pay their last tribute. Mr. Francis Asenso Boakye who is also the Minister for Works and Housing has unfortunately lost his mother and the funeral is being held.
His mother, Madam Georgina Oppong died on January 4 2021 after a short illness. The final funeral rite of the late Georgina Oppong is being held at Bantama and some Members of Parliament are present to assist their colleague. An image of the late Georgina Oppong is placed at the funeral ground for visitors to have a memory of her.
The late Madam Georgina Oppong (Mother of Asenso Boakye)
Ghana’s Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia and his wife, Samira Bawumia were also not missing out at the funeral. They could be seen dressed in all-black attire to signal funerals in the Ghanaian traditional settings. Other ministers of state were also present to console their brother and friend. Mr. Asenso Boakye could be seen in a red cloth exchanging pleasantries as the big wigs kept wishing him and the rest of the family well.
The beauty of politics in Ghana is that both members of the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress assist each other in times of need. They are also friends irrespective of their political difference and the various misunderstanding in the media space. With this, some Members of Parliament from the National Democratic Congress were also present in their numbers to assist the bereaved family. May the good Lord comfort and strengthen Mr. Asenso Boakye and his Family in this painful moment.
