The recent blackouts in the country have propelled some Ghanaians to say that, it appears 'dumsor' is back. But the Minister responsible for Energy, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh has explained that, the kind of 'dumsor' being experienced under their administration cannot be compared with Ex-President John Dramani Mahama's 'dumsor'.
This statement has provoked many Ghanaians as they blasted him that, he should tell them the name he will give to the recent light out. This morning, the Minister for Information, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah joined Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh to pay a working tour to Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo).
They held a meeting with the management of the company, where Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah stressed the need for GRIDCo to be proactive by communicating clearly to the general public on the power situation. There was recent reports that, there is going to be a timetable for 'dumsor' as GRIDCo is discussing it with Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). Looking at Kojo Oppong Nkrumah's comment above, he was trying to advised them to control the situation rather than just responding to it after it has happened.
They underscored the significance of unity of purpose among the management team and also visited a GRIDCo project site where resolving remissions constraints in the system. Checking the field very well, they are working tirelessly to ensure that, we do not encounter such unplanned blackout again.
According to Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, he was encouraged by GRIDCo's hard work and commitment to duty. In their address to the media, they asked Ghanaians to bear with the situation whilst GRIDCo continues to work hard to mitigate these transmission constraints.
Most Ghanaians reacted that, this is good move by the workaholic Ministers and they believe that severe 'dumsor' cannot happened under the watch of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
