Sefwi Wiawso Collation Center Locked Down; Heavy Military Stationed As NDC Protest Akufo-Addo's Vote

There is some heavy military presence at the Electoral Commission's collation center in Sefwi Wiawso of the Western North Region following some protest by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the declaration of results of the Presidential elections this dawn. The NDC argues that the result is inaccurate and should be discarded.

The Returning Officer for the Electoral Commission in the Constituency, Kwasi Kwateng amidst protest from the NDC in the Western North Region called the polls for the Presidency, declaring President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the winner with 32,232 votes against John Dramani Mahama's 30,355. Strangely, and in defense of their argument, the NDC's agent did not endorse the pink sheet.

Region Elections and Research Director, Pius Nkoah at a press conference today says their collated results projects the NDC have won the elections for both Presidential and Parliamentary. The entire exercise at the collation has been brought to a halt as they are not prepared to allow the EC proceed with collating the parliamentary results.

The entire parameter is guarded with armed security men. All party representative have been instructed to vacate the premises, awaiting a final call from the Electoral Commission to resume collating the results.

For years, the Sefwi Wiawso had been predominant NDC hold until Dr. Kwaku Afriyie [incumbent MP] won the seat in 2016. He contested the seat this year to defend his seat for a second term. Per the NPP's projection, the incumbent has won the elections.
