The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has begged the chiefs and traditional authorities of Upper Dixcove Traditional Area in the Ahanta West Constituency of the Western Region, to revoke curses invoked on the Party, banning them form campaigning on their land.
They officially rendered an apology on behalf of the party to the traditional authorities, with an appeal, asking them to revoke the curses invoked on the Party's Member of Parliament for the Ahanta West Constituency, Mr. Ebenezer Kojo Kum and his followers.
The Member of Parliament, together with his followers are said to have made some comments which according to sources is an insult to the paramountcy.
The king makers have performed rituals and called on the gods with the blood of a live sheep to invoke curses on the culprits.
They subsequently issued them a two week ultimatum to render an apology or face the wrath of the gods.
The meeting also involved the Municipal Chief Executive of the area Mrs. Mary Eyison, the Member of Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Kojo Kum, and the Chiefs.
After the meeting a while ago, Minister for the Western region, Dr. Kobby Okyere Darko Mensah, indicated that the New Patriotic Party is a party which believes in peaceful co-existence of each other.
He indicates the chiefs have accepted their plea and are ready to revoke the curses, to allow the party campaign on their land.
'We told them that, the NPP as a political party, will not diserespect the authority of the traditional authorities, we want to rather be a partner in development. The chiefs have also assured us that, they have forgiven the member of parliament and they are ready to ensure peace reigns,' Dr Kobby Okyere Darko indicated.
The new development has given the opportunity for the chiefs to perform a counter ritual to appease the gods to enable peace prevail.
