Brouhaha in NPP as Nana Obiri Boahen clashes with Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu over this

Please share your thoughts on the question asked below.

The division in the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is on the rise due to the brouhaha surrounding the ideal candidate to lead them in the next general polls. Leading members in the party have given their verdict on the right person to lead the NPP in 2024. Posters and flyers of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Alan Kyerematen have gone viral over the past days as the two aforementioned candidates are in pole position to be the next flagbearer of the NPP after Nana Akufo-Addo.

Although the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the Minister of Trade and Industry Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen have not declared their interest in the flagbearership position but it is obviously clear that the only two people to cruise the NPP to victory in 2024 is either Dr Bawumia or Alan Cash but the big question is, who will win the votes of the party delegates?

Another issue raised by concerned members of the party is that Alan Kyerematen should give Dr Mahamudu Bawumia the free pass to lead the party in 2024 and if possible be his running mate. The Majority leader who is also the lawmaker for Suame Constituency on the flagbearership issue revealed that it will not be wise on the part of the New Patriotic Party which has been tagged as an Akan party to present an Akan after the tenure of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Former Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko lashed the experienced lawmaker for Suame for making such a comment which he thinks will only cause disturbances in the party. The Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Obiri Boahen has also disagreed with the non Akan comment made by Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu.

Nana Obiri Boahen who disagrees with Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu in an interview with Joy FM noticed that party delegates look beyond ethnicity when choosing a flagbearer to represent the party in the next national elections. He added that the most important thing is to select a leader who will help the party to break the eight irrespective of where the person would come from.

Dear cherished reader, do you think it's time for a non Akan candidate to lead the NPP?
