N/R: River Dakar At Kulkpeni Is Dried Up.

River Dakar at Kulkpeni in the Yendi municipality in the Northern region is totally dried up in this dry season.

This river serves as a source of water for Kulkpeni, Yendi town and other surrounding communities in Yendi municipality.

According to the residents, this is the first time in the history of the river where it is totally dried up without little water for the residents.

As a result of this, water crisis hits Yendi town and its surrounding Communities for more than a month now.

The residents have to travel long distance to other villages where there are boreholes to fetch water for their domestic purposes.

Ladies in the affected areas spent all their time all days searching for water and school going children in the Communities instead of going to school have no choice than to go and "hunt for water".

However, the MP for Yendi constituency Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama has made substantive efforts by spending an amount of Gh€60,000.00 to supply water to all residents in the Constituency to curb the situation before rain sets in.
