Five top political communicators in Ghana with great reputation

The importance of communication in politics and development in general has been widely recognized. Many authors argue that the focus of communication should not only be centered on what is said but more importantly, how it is said. Invariably, when done and done well, effective communication becomes a potent tool for transformation; phycologically, socially, economically and politically.

In this opinion article, the writer presents to you dear reader, some of the individuals who have distinguished themselves as far as political communication in Ghana is concerned.

1. Kweku Baako Jr

Veteran Journalist Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jr is regarded as one of the most reputable political communicators in Ghana. One distinctive attributes of Mr Baako is his love for facts and objectivity. He is known for carrying volums of documents to media stations as evidence to support his presentations. Mr Kweku Baako despite his great knowledge in political issues in Ghana and beyond is always open to divergent views. He is a type of communicator who gives no room for speculation that cannot be substantiated. He has contributed in diverse ways towards shaping and reshaping Ghana's governance system and has participated in several protests including the infamous Kumipreku demonstration which sort to oppose the implementation of the Value Added Tax (VAT) policy by the NDC governtment in 1995.

2. Kwesi Pratt

His knowledge in political history of Ghana is unparalleled. As a true Nkrumaist and a Pan-Africanist, Mr Pratt believes in a society where equality and justice is held in the highest esteem. The veteran journalist is noted for a unique communication skills that is aimed at not only informing but educating his audiences. Mr Pratt just like Kweku Baako has contributed so much in shaping the democracy of Ghana. He was also a leader in the Kumipreku demonstration in 1995.

3. Nana Akomea

Mr Nana Akomea is one of the few political communicators who is very much admired and respected across the political divide. Mr Akomea was a formidable force during his tenure as the Director of Communications for New Partriotic Party. He was very instrumental in the victory of the NPP in 2016 general election. His level of decency in communication has made him a role model for many young Ghanaians.

4. Felix Ofosu Kwakye

Felix Ofosu Kwakye is a young and vibrant communicator. He is one of those communicators who cannot easily be walked over during debates. He makes sure he prepares very well with fact and figures at his finger tips before appearing on any platform for discussions. This makes him one of the many political communicators with great repute.

5. Sammy Gyamfi

To many Ghanaians, Mr Sammy Gyamfi is a true definition of effective communicator. Mr Sammy Gyamfi became the Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress in 2018 after a landslide victory in the internal election of the party. Since then, he has been a torn in flesh of his opponents. Although he is young, Sammy Gyamfi has proven that when given the chance, the youths of Ghana are capable of managing the affairs of their country.
