During the period when the parliamentarians were debating as to whether the e-levy bill should be rejected or pass, most communicators and the MPs themselves made it look as if e-levy is the only means that will transform Ghana's economy miraculously.
Today, the information minister who doubles as the Member of Parliament for the Ofoase Ayirebi constituency, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has debunked all claims that the e-levy will solve all of Ghana's problem. He added that no government official had made that statement anywhere so nobody should go around making that statement
“We have not said that E-levy will solve all our problems so I think the foundation of that question should be quickly dealt with.", he said at a press conference held today.
Many people reacted by saying that this government always make a U-turn whenever they make promises to Ghanaians. A classical example is the promise to build a harbor for the people of Cape Coast.
