The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described the 2020 election as not credible, contrary to claims by the Chairperson of the Electrical Commission, Jean Mensah, that it was free, fair and credible.
According to the party, the way the election was conducted undermined all the gains the country has made since the return to multi party democracy in 1992.
“The facts show that last year’s election was one of the most poorly conducted, flawed and manipulated election in the history of this country; a situation that has undermined the strides we have made since the inception of this 4th republican democratic dispensation,” the Director of Elections of the NDC, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, said at a press conference on Thursday.
The NDC press conference comes on the heels of a workshop organized by the EC to review the 2020 polls. Although officials of NDC were invited to participate in the workshop, the party took a firm position not to have anything to do with the review of the 2020 elections.
Afriyie Ankarah accused the EC of dubious handling of the printing and distribution of ballot papers resulting in ballot staffing in NPP strongholds and other regions.
He also faulted the EC for the absence of a "proper collation at the national collation center by the Returning Officer for the Presidential elections, Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa. ”
