What You Are Saying Is Not True – Randy Abbey Boldly Tells Nana In The Face

Randy Abbey (PhD) was joined in the studios of Metro TV today by Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for North Tongu and Nana Akomea, Director at the State Transport Corporation. The trio delved into issues relating to luxurious jets that President Akufo-Add o flies. Okudzeto has been at the forefront of a campaign to make the president account for his recent travels. He noted that the cost of chartering another plane when the presidential jet was air worthy, is worrying.

Indeed, many of the Ministers called to answer the urgent question on the cost have failed to give satisfactory questions regarding the issue. This has left the question still hanging. In sharing his comments on the issue, Nana Akomea noted that what Okudzeto was saying happens in every regime that comes to power. He gave examples to show that the NDC under John Mahama have even done worse in times past. He cited an example of a chartering a plane from Scotland to Ghana costing the country $80,000.

“There is no place in the world where politicians are popular. I have read an article from Koku Anyidoho. I don’t know if it’s true. It is how President Mills travelled on a chartered jet and the pilots who were French didn’t know the terrain and they almost crush landed. I think they were going to Tamale” Nana Akomea said

At that moment Randy intervened and questioned the authenticity of the story. He noted that it is not the right of the pilot to know a terrain because he will be guided. “They didn’t know which terrain? Do pilots have to know the terrain? How does landing have to do with terrain. This is not true” Randy queried.

This was supported by Okudzeto who doubted the part of a chartering and use of French pilots. According to Nana Akomea, the use of a chartered plane and foreign pilots not conversant with the area was a waste of money when the president then could have found an easier way to do that. However, the question still remains as to why the cost of recent travels have not been revealed. Does the country need a new jet in times like this? Why does our politics have to be based on equalization?
