Video: Scenes from the President's office after the election petition verdict

Many Ghanaians have been behind their television set for some couple of months ago after the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections in Ghana.

This is because the National Democratic Congress NDC refused to accept the election results after the declaration by the Electoral Commission of Ghana Chairperson Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa.

Since the former President of Ghana, Mr. John Dramani Mahama who was then the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress in the 2020 general election also did accept the election results, they petitioned both the Electoral Commission Chairperson Mrs Jean Adukwei Mensa at the Supreme Court of Ghana.

The NDC then included the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo in the election petition for allegedly connived with the Electoral Commission Chairperson to ridge the 2020 election in favor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The Supreme Court of Ghana after going through the case brought before the court by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that is challenging Nana Addo's victory in the 2020 election said, the court cannot base on the minor errors made by the Electoral Commission of Ghana to call for re-election as the NDC was asking them to do.

Meaning that the election results which was declared by Mrs Jean Adukwei Mensa on the 9th of December, 2020 that made Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo as President of Ghana in his second term was genuine.

President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo and his Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia together with some NPP party members jubilated over the victory they had in the Supreme Court.
