The National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Yaw Boaben Asamoah has confessed on Accra-based Okay FM that Ghanaian voters truly voted for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He was speaking in a telephone interview with Kwame Nkrumah Tikesie on the Ade Akye Abia Morning Show this Tuesday, December 15, 2020.
Lawyer Yaw Buaben Asamoah admitted that the one hundred and thirty-six (136) parliamentary seats grabbed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the just-ended 2020 election, shows the love Ghanaians have for the party.
He says it will be prudent for the NDC to begin preparation on how to unite themselves in parliament, rather than fighting for the presidential results which have already been won by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.
Lawyer Yaw Buaben Asamoah adds that Ghanaians decided to reward the National Democratic Congress with an appreciable number of parliamentary seats, and chose to give the presidency to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.
“They voted for the NDC massively in the parliamentary but the presidential went for Nana Addo. So, the NDC should accept the results and prepare their numbers in parliament”. He noted.
Lawyer Yaw Buaben Asamoah advised the NDC to accept the presidential results and speak to their followers who seem angry.
He added that if the NDC indeed has the evidence to back their claims, it will be prudent to rather contest in court.
“Ghanaians did not vote for the NDC to come and cause chaos in this country. They should go to court. if they indeed have the evidence, the courts are there to settle the matter. It is not best to ask people to be on the streets. This will not help”. He noted.
He was however quick to add that if the NDC had the evidence, they would have stormed the court by now.
“They have no single evidence to bridge the over 500, 000 votes difference in the presidential results. Ghanaians have really honor the NDC in the election.
Those who voted for them might regret their position now”. Lawyer Yaw Buaben Asamoah added.
