According to Professor Kweku Azar, the actions of Executive arm of government which is headed by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, can be labelled as a deliberate machiavellian tactics employ to shun independent scrutiny.
He believes that the government should be accountable and transparent to the people regardless of their conflicting political and nationalistic goals.
However, the owner of the News Statesman Newspaper, Gabby Otchere Asare Darko, expressed his counter opinion on the issue.
He asserted in a Facebook post that the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is not afraid of any independent audit or investigation. This is because the administration has nothing to hide in terms of the utilisation of state resources.
In any case, Gabby Otchere Darko averred that the NPP government has done well for providing enormous support to anti-corruption institutions which were been starved for years by previous government.
He wrote that
“A president who, for the first time, appoints an independent prosecutor, and offers more funding to bodies starved by his predecessor, cannot be a leader afraid of scrutiny by independent bodies, Kwaku Azar.”
