The President Has Just Decided To “Punish” Ghanaians-Lawyer Fumes At Nana Addo

The conversation around the purchase of a bee Presidential jet continues to remains a topical issue and discussions around it continues in the media space.

Some government spokespersons have reiterated that the decision to go in for a new jet is based on expert advise from the Ministry of Defense and National Security.

Issues have also been raised about the space in the current Presidential jet but members of the National Democratic Congress maintains their stance against the purchase.

Private legal practitioner and member of the legal team of the NDC, Lawyer Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe has reiterated that the President has decided to “punish” Ghanaians and that is why the government plans to purchase a new Presidential jet in a period like this.

He made this assertion when he appeared on the “Newday” show on TV3 as a panel member to discuss some topical issues in the country.

Quoting Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo’s stance against the purchase of a jet by former President Jerry John Rawlings, he wondered why the same person would decide to purchase a jet 21 years later when he already has one in a good condition.

” The President has just decided to punish Ghanaians because this is the same man who has asked Ghanaians to tighten their belt. Why is he not tightening his own? He was against the purchase of a jet in 2000 but today, the same person wants to purchase a jet. Does he think if he had told Ghanaians he was going to buy a jet, they would vote for him. The current Presidential jet is in pristine condition and so the President doesn’t need a new jet” he proffered.

He therefore indicated his support for the calls against the purchase of a new jet.

The issue is expected to go to Parliament when sitting resumes and Cityzen_Vigilante’s team will keep you informed.
