True believers ought to be cautious of the association they keep.

(Proverbs 22:24) Make no friendship with an angry man, and with a furious man thou shall not go.

Friendship is good when you walk with the right person, but highly regrettable when you walk with the wrong person. No two people stays happily and successfully in their relationship if their lifestyles does not agree with each other. For friendship to be sustained, one must accept the other.

From the text, we could see that those with whom we associate with we also acquire habits, and learn their ways, show their tempers and walk in their steps. Friendship is influential. And that informed the reason why the Bible has variously warned us to be careful of whom we accept as a friend.

He who comes close to fire will certainly catch its heat eventually. Similarly, a bosom friend of an evil person will not be innocent of wicked acts. He, who accepts wrong relationship or friendship just to impress others, will forever live with the torment of his avoidable mistake.

Don’t keep company with people who deliberately do not walk in love, people who engender disunity, and divisive elements that mislead others. If you had or have friends with whom you are not experiencing any meaningful spiritual progress, and whose friendship hinders your effectiveness in the Gospel, it is high time you gave up such friendships.

Wrong association corrupts good people. Children of God must avoid any relationship that can affect their standing with God. Ungodly people are careless about meeting God’s expectations, therefore, do not follow their footsteps. True believers ought to be cautious of the association they keep.

Child of God, evil association has the capacity to quench your fire. Therefore, always be on your guard. Never allow anyone to lure you into a relationship that you will forever regret in your life. Learn to choose who becomes your friend. Friendship is a choice, not a must. Friendship can make or mark you.

The kind of person you make your friend will determine how far you will go in life.
