There has been so much brouhaha regarding the construction of a national cathedral from the country. what started as a personal vow has turned national and citizens have been called on to support the effort. Even some Muslims have joined in and contributing to the building.
Ghanaians were taxed to pay 100 cedis monthly to help mass up funds for the building. In a new development, Apostle Opoku Onyinah, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral has revealed that they expect churches to dedicate a week for prayers and special offerings in support of the cathedral for the next 3 years.
Kevin Taylor who has always been against the cathedral has once again sent fresh fire to the Chairman for these fresh demands to Christians in the country. Kevin noted that this is one of the biggest extortion schemes in the country. Kevin bemoaned that this was been orchestrated under men who claim they are men of God. He called on Christians in the country and resist every attempt from Apostle Opoku Onyinah and his team to extort them.
“Ghanaians never promised to build God a cathedral. This was the initiative of one man. Banks were closed and people lost their jobs, yet no clergy man spoke against this. They looked on. Now, you are asking us to declare a week fasting and prayers. You people are not serious. How is the Free SHS faring?
None of the clergy have spoken about how the programme is suffering yet they have the effrontery to call for support for a cathedral. I blame Christians in the country. They have been brainwashed” Kevin said.
