Sowing money for Anointing is 'FRAUD'

ACTS 8:18-19

And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. (KJV)

There is a common phenomenon among many young believers. After getting born again, their greatest quest is to get power or what they call anointing to produce miracles and become famous as that superstar man of God they see on TV. This lust for fame and prominence leads to many errors, including sowing money seed for anointing. They assume that is the quickest way to “tap” the anointing from their superstar man of God. They see anointing as being popular or famous. To them, Christianity is all about power to work miracles and become a prophet or a bishop as they define it. They enjoyed titles like Apostle, Bishop, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and the like.

Sometimes, these superstar men of God teach that they are the custodian of the anointing and for that matter, you have to sow money seed into their lives in order to tap into the anointing on them. You will also get people who ignorantly testify that they received their anointing by sowing money to another anointed man of God. This then becomes a doctrine for many ignorant young believers. We have no such practice or doctrine of tapping anointing by the payment of money. The power of God or the gifts of the Spirit is called grace or charisma which is given freely without any monetary cost to it.

The Holy Spirit in you makes you anointed. Every believer has the power to produce miracles in the name of Jesus. It is through knowledge that you become effective in the faith. What you need is not sowing of money seed because, from the opening text, Peter rebuked that practice. What you need is knowledge of who you are and what Christ can do through you. The greatest desire of every young believer is to seek knowledge and grow spiritually by serving the local church faithfully. It is through faithful service that we find expressions to the gifts of the Spirit in us, not by the payment of money to tap the things of the Spirit.
