Dr. Abel Damina, the founder and senior pastor of Power City has just released a video to his verified Facebook account in which he explains why it is incorrect to believe that Jesus forgives sins and takes away sins of the world.
He quoted John 1:14, John the Baptist declares, "Behold, the lamb of God that takes away the (sin) of the world." Pastor Damina began by reading this passage. In front of his audience, he probed whether or not John had actually stated "(sin)" (sins). He cautioned his congregation to not jump to conclusions.
He made it clear that Jesus only took away sin which is singular, not sins in the plural, and that he did not forgive wrongdoings. It's a noun, he said, not a verb.
The sins of the world, Pastor Damina said again, were removed by Jesus. It's crucial, he said, because there can be no sins until there is sin, and there can be no sin unless the gospel is rejected.
John the Baptist's proclamation, "Behold the lamb that takes away the sin of the world," may be understood in light of Pastor Damina's explanation that, before the coming of the law, sin was present in the world (Romans 5:13), but no one was held accountable for it.
He said people believe that Jesus takes away the sins of the world while preaching he quoted Bible verses to counter his claims and stands. Well as a Christian do you agree with his teachings and do you believe Jesus forgives sins and takes away the sins of the world.
